Dave Moran, Executive Principal
BA (Hons) QTS Physical Education and Education
Dave began his teaching career in 2003 as a teacher of Physical Education. He worked as Head of Department and faculty for foundation subjects at Oak Farm Community School and was previously Assistant Headteacher (Gifted and Talented Coordinator) and department line manager at Brighton Hill Community School.
Steven Hulme, Headteacher
BA (Hons), NPQH
Steven began his teaching career in 1999, as a teacher of Drama and Theatre Studies. He worked as a teacher in Hertfordshire and London over a number of years, before acting as Head of Centre for Education Other Than At School (EOTAS) and Torbay School. He has experience across a broad range of education settings, having worked with the Youth Offending Team (YOT) in Torbay, as well as supporting the monitoring of education for young people who are Electively Home Educated (EHE). He has been the Headteacher of The Burton Academy since 2017.
Bethany Woodward, Deputy Headteacher
LLB (Hons), NPQH
Beth began her teaching career in 2008 as a Citizenship teacher. She has worked primarily within Special Education and Alternative Provision settings within Torbay, and her previous roles include Head of Key Stage 3, Lead of Teaching and Learning, and Assistant Headteacher.
